PARNER WITH US!
T1D Academy strives to support people in living their best life with diabetes.
We take great pride in building solid relationships with, and being fully committed to our fellow T1Ds. While we specialize in Type 1 Diabetes, we offer services and support to those managing prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes (in pregnancy), LADA, and MODY, too. We have intimate knowledge about the physical and emotional challenges that diabetes throws your way day-to-day, minute-to-minute.
Our approach is patient-centred and non-judgemental. We are open to thinking outside-the-box to develop management strategies that align with lifestyles and long-term goals, and work to find the tools and technologies that make it happen.
We welcome the opportunity to share our experiences, expertise and encouragement with clients, families, friends, caregivers, teachers, coaches, counsellors... anyone and everyone that touches the T1D's life.
PROGRAMS & SERVICES
We have well over 2 decades of success with self-management strategies with diabetes for adults and adolescents. Through that experience we have shaped an all-encompassing, evidence-based offering that we strongly believe will help our clients to live their best life with diabetes. We take the complexities of clinical care one step further to provide customized support to our clients and their families to help them navigate the intricacies and demands of this chronic disease.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
T1D Academy is always looking to forge new partnerships with healthcare providers. Our hope is to complement clinical support with a customized, more personal approach that addresses the details of diabetes. Our level of support is an offering that existing centres just cannot cover with the limited time and resources available. We love brainstorming and collaborating with inter-disciplinary teams. If you've got a need, we can help you fill it. Reach out and discover how we can help close the gaps.
Please check out our programs and services page or contact us, today, to discuss collaborative and/or developmental opportunities that will strategically align with clinical interventions, while enabling people with diabetes to live their best life!
Kristen has been laser-focused on the pursuit of her dream of establishing a support centre for people challenged by Type 1 diabetes (T1D) since her daughter's diagnosis in 2013. Her personal experience as an adult with, and a parent of a child managing this chronic, complex, life threatening disease will be of great benefit and inspiration to the patients and families she will encounter in her professional career. Kristen's contributions to The Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre have helped to ensure that the needs of its patients and families are being met while incorporating ideas and expertise that support The Centre's strategic plan. Kristen has emerged as a role model and example of how to not only help yourself, but also help others. She continues to exemplify resilience, dedication and a determination to excel, pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box to accomplish goals and striving to be inclusive. She believes that working together in interdisciplinary teams, where patients have a strong voice, is far more powerful than achieving success in isolation. Kristen has vision, compassion and empathy for others and consistently demonstrates her adaptability and in-depth understanding of the needs, implications and effects of chronic disease on both physical and mental well-being. She offers a background of varied experiences to draw from.that will be of great benefit to those lives she touches.
