TREATING A LOW BLOOD SUGAR

T1D can cause hypoglycemia, a very dangerous health concern if not treated immediately, following the instructions, below.

If blood glucose meter (tester) reads below 4.1, please follow these steps, IMMEDIATELY:

give 1 juice box, OR

give 2 rolls of rockets candy, OR

give 4 glucose tablets

WAIT 15 MINUTES AND RETEST

​

If test result is >4.1, please give 15g carb snack (e.g., 1 granola bar).

​

If test result is still below 4.1, please retreat STEP 1 and call parents at 416.704.6356 or click button, below.
